So I thought I'd make some very easy Halloween mummy dogs for the kids and young at heart.

Little hands are perfect for wrapping the "bandages" around each sausage, and there are no rules on how neat they need to be. In fact, the messier and more haphazard the wrap, the more they look like a real mummy!

Preheat your oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.

Cut your defrosted puff pastry sheets into thin strips, about .5 to 1cm wide.

Cut each hot dog sausage to create arms and legs — slice partway up from the bottom on each side to form the legs, and make two smaller cuts near the top for the arms. Leave the "head" area of the sausage uncut.

Have the kids wrap the pastry strips around each sausage, leaving a small gap near the top uncovered for the face. It doesn't need to be neat — the messier they look, the more they look like real mummies!

Place the wrapped Mummy Dogs onto the lined baking tray. Brush each one lightly with milk. Bake in the oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.

Once cooked, add the eyes using a small dot of mustard or dab of sauce to stick on olive pieces or candy eyes, placed just under the pastry gap near the top.
